day 1, take a flight from Addis to Mekele. then after coffee break drive to Erta’Ale,the active volcano is erupting everyday and every night.the evening trek about 1 hour up to the mountains to visit the active volcano of Erta Ale which is one of the few volcano in the world with dramatic scene. O/n Camping.
day 2, in a morning back a main camp site and after breakfast, drive to Hamedela, a base for Dallol.late afternoon ,visit the salt extraction and camel caravans transporting bare salt for highlanders. this bare salt was a currency from 14 -19th century. o/n camping
day 3,
in a morning, visit the multi colored potash and sulfur ground.drive early as it will have artistic colors while the strong sun will change it more reddish. then drive to Mekelle to take afternoon flight to Addis.
